You could not be more right. What is troubling is the fact that Dems just don't get it. Bernie Sanders myopic focus on healthcare, the overall emphasis on reforming immigration law and LGBT law, while important, miss the opportunity for outreach. Everyone is happier when the are working jobs that pay well with benefits. People are more mindful when they're able to prosper and care for their families.
Yep....you said it. Irks me to no end....and it's utterly obvious.
2 web sites that help rural folks Institute for rural studies and the daily yonder these have a track record such as your article asked for. thank you for your words.
So, why was it that a farmer, veteran, airline pilot was unable to gain traction in rural Ohio? And if guns are more important than their job*, WTF?
*"Former Illinois State Sen. Gary Forby says the gun issue is a major reason why Democrats have lost the votes of union members in his district, deep in southern Illinois: “When I walked into union halls they talked concealed carry first and union issues second.”"
Trump won the rural population with lies and the help of crazy right media. Is that what the Democrats need to do - Lie? It seems like a bad way to win. It seems like a Don Trump way to win. I'm not a true believe in the end justifies the means.
Without changing policy it changed leaders..it can not continue without destructuon
I own a 125 acre farm, retired with a pension from Saturn/GM after 32 years, live currently in a small town but did live near Nashville TN for 18 years. I have pretty much voted Democrat for most of my life with a few exceptions here and there. I am educated and currently work full time with the Marine Corp as a financial planner/counselor for Recruiters. Since I retired from the auto industry in 2011 I have traveled all over this country working as a financial planner/counselor and I agree with ONE thing in the article and that is the Dems need to focus on economic issues. This I find frustrating because in my educated opinion as a capitalist and financial planner with an MBA in Business & Finance and two financial certifications it is the darn policies of the Republican Party since 1980 which have devastated rural and working class America. I am a part time farmer, gun owner, and frankly on social issues I am pretty much a Libertarian. However, when home I attend Church and consider myself a Christian as well. I think we should simply focus on the economic issues and not emphasis the social issues. I also have found that it is less the social issues where I have a problem with the Conservative Democrats it is their voting with the Republicans on things good for Wall Street and big finance.
The western half of Ohio too (not just the eastern half, considering family there), and the rest of the Midwest, as far as I know!
All of these thing seem to be extremely obvious. If any politician doesn't understand these it's because they are too obliviously stupid to vote for or so bought by Big Pharm, Big Corp, Military Industrial Complex and/or the Slave Trade (also known as the Prison Industrial Complex). To me, it's pretty obvious that it is the latter and those in Washington won't publicly "learn" these messages. After all, Bernie was pretty clearly in line with most of these policies, has been the most popular politician since the election, and yet Big Money continues to bride our politicians to pretend these policies aren't what people want. Only members of the Progressive movement has the integrity to actually ignore the oligarchy that controls our government officials and fight to strengthen the Middle Class.
Who Will Stand Up for Ilhan Omar?
